Perth’s popular Eastwood district is set to be home to a new hotel in the next two years.
The Eastwood Hotel is set for construction next month, and the new building will have about 30,000 square metres of space, according to Perth’s Planning and Development Office.
It will have three floors and will be one of the biggest hotel developments in the area.
Its development is set aside for two tenants, including a local arts centre, and it will be the first new hotel built in the district in more than two decades.
In its development application, West Perth Planning and Design Office said the hotel will be built in a “significant part of the Eastwood precinct” which includes the city’s CBD, South Perth, South Yarra and parts of Eastwood itself.
The development will be “a landmark” for the area and will add a new element of cultural significance to the area, the application said.
The development application was approved by the Planning and Environment Commission on Monday.
The project will be called the West Perth Eastwood Resort.
“We are excited to be building a landmark hotel for our city and for the surrounding community,” said Peter Ainslie, chairman of West Perth Development Corporation.
It will be located in a development with “significant” commercial space, he said.
“We want it to be a vibrant place and it is going to have a huge impact on the city and the community.”
West Perth Development Corp has also submitted a plan to the city for the future development of the area around the hotel.
Ainslie said the development would be the “biggest project” of its kind in Perth and the future of the hotel was a big part of its success.
“This project is going be the biggest in the development of West WA for quite a while, we expect it to get to a billion dollars,” he said.
“The project has been in the works for a number of years and we have had some really good development applications and the one we are currently looking at, it is a fantastic project.
West Perth’s development team has already received approval from the Planning Commission for two buildings in the city, including one of Perth’s biggest, the West West Hotel, which is now on the market for $100 million.
The West West will have “a lot of commercial space” on the ground floor and it was “just a massive, massive development project for the city”, Ainslay said.
Another development in the West will also be under construction in the suburb of Northbridge.
Northbridge is set in the former industrial district of Port Hedland, and has a history of development.
The Northbridge site has a “massive development potential” and was “the only site that was commercially viable” before the Northbridge Industrial Estate was developed, Ainsli said.

“It will add an interesting character to the town, it will give the residents a better sense of identity,” he told the ABC.
“And it will make it easier for us to find our way through the town.
Eastwood is the future for this town and it’s really a huge part of our history and this hotel project will add something very special.”
AINSLIFFE said it was very important the hotel had “a great sense of community” in its future development.
“The hotel has a fantastic, fantastic history,” he continued.
“I am very pleased to be part of it.”
